I had the pleasure of being involved in this shoot working alongside awesome photographer Matt Porteous, the lovely and super talented Enia from Elmina Salon, amazing jewellery designer Zinzi from The Brooklyn Boombox and all of which was cleverly and creatively directed by The Observatory. Together, we came up with a beautiful concept ‘Cimmerian’ which basically means ‘a darkness that could be felt’. The Observatory also filmed behind the scenes, which captured the darkness of the shoot so beautifully. Final shots by Matt to follow soon…

I’m in love with the Spring 2013 Chanel collection, not to mention the breathtaking beauty look!

This look is my favourite from the season so far. It’s so inventive, dramatic and dark but at the same time delicate and feminine. I love the use of cut-out leaf-shaped tulle appliques layered over a shimmering, smoldering charcoal eye. They contrast yet coordinate the clothing so perfectly. The hair was a messy nest of knots pinned around the crown… Disheveled yet so appropriately haute couture.

The holiday season is among us and that means get-togethers, parties and special occasions so break out your shimmer and glitter! Gold always looks festive and this season it’s a hot colour from jewellery and clothes to home decor and makeup. A gold smokey eye paired with a pale pink lip is a pretty neutral look that can go with different outfits for Christmas or New Year’s Eve.

I had fun creating some beach bright makeup looks for the Collections Groups’ latest edition of Collect.

The look and feel for this shoot were beach bright and colourful so it was a great opportunity to play with some of the bright colours in my kit.

My first model had gorgeous big blue eyes so I used a combination of turquoise and sky blues all around her eyes to really enhance their blueness. I also used a hot peach colour on the lips to complement the blues.  My other model had a deeper skin tone so I decided to use intense pinks and purples on the eyes and a bright fuschia on the lips which really complemented her skintone.

Bright and bold colour combinations are key to SS12 so I definitely made the most of it for this shoot!

Loving the sweetness and girlyness of these sorbet colours, dainty eyelet fabrics and dreamy pastel accents.  Oh how I would just love to live in this ad!

I was pleased when Mark came to me for a little help for his photoshoot with the awesome Matt Porteous, to promote his brand new website www.markwillmett.com.

We obviously didn’t want him to look like he was wearing any makeup for the shoot, just enough to look flawless in front of the camera. I started by making sure his skin was clean, toned and moisturised. I then went on to cover any discolouration or redness around the face and front of the neck using a very light foundation and then used concealer around the eyes and for any pinpoint concealing. I slightly defined his eyes using a subtle brown eyeliner on the inner top rims of his eyes and groomed his eyebrows. I set all this with a translucent powder and lightly contoured his features with a powder product to give great structure to the face.

Mark performed a few songs for us whilst he was having his photos taken. He is an amazing swing singer and guaranteed to have you all up on your feet dancing the night away. He delivers classics from the 1930′s and beyond with the ease and charisma of a youthful Sinatra. Tangerine has been declared the 2012 colour of the year and the beauty world is buzzing over it! It’s a beautifully bright colour that can be worn in small doses or bright pops of colour. Sweep on an orange eyeshadow for a light hint of colour, or go bold with a deeply pigmented lipstick and matching nail polish. Tangerine orange is such a captivating colour and will perk up any skin tone. I am loving it!
